Hey! My name is Corrie Martin. I have taught at Riverdale since 2010 in 4th, 7th, and 8th grades. In addition to teaching here, I also co-sponsor the Intramural Club and have worked with the spring musical productions. I love this school and appreciate the many different opportunities it has that allows all students to thrive. In 2016, I was named Germantown Municipal School District's Teacher of the Year for grades 5-8. I was raised in Bartlett, Tennessee. My mom has taught at Bartlett Elementary in kindergarten for more than 35 years. She and my grandmother, who was a teacher and principal with Shelby County Schools, have inspired me to be the teacher I am today. I have my undergraduate degree from The University of Memphis and my master's degree from Union University. Before I found my way to Riverdale, I worked as a teacher in Bartlett, then as a television reporter in Louisiana. (I'd always wanted to try it!) While in the bayou state, I met my husband, Michael. After three years of reporting on everything from crime to controversial laws to hurricanes, I moved back to Memphis to focus on being the best teacher I could possibly be. That's when I was hired to work at Riverdale by Mr. Carlisle. My husband's name is Michael. We got married in 2011, adopted our puppy, Stella, in 2012, and were blessed with our beautiful daughter, Presley, in 2013. Outside of school, I love running, playing board games, and playing coed softball with my husband. You may also catch us around town playing trivia at different restaurants. We also love watching our Grizzlies and Tigers. Since I married a Louisiana guy, I'm required to cheer for LSU, but I bleed Tiger blue.
